Anthony Ray Gibbs, 64, of Russellville Passed away at his home on Tuesday August 11, 2026.

No shirt, no shoes, Kentucky ball cap. In his prime, that's likely how you saw him in public. He said his feet had gotten soft and he recently put the shirt back on, but the UK ball cap remained.
He took the phrase "bleed blue" seriously. An avid Kentucky basketball fan and a rock-n-roll enthusiast, specifically the 70s and 80s era. KISS, to be exact. He'd quiz you on sports history or tell you facts about rock legends, and he kept up with them to this day.

Some say the phrase "dad joke" got started because of him. But if you ever met his father, you know exactly where he got it from.

Giving out life advice? Trust it, because he'd either seen it or been through it. Smarter than you'd expect, and not just in the smart-aleck way. His proudest accomplishments were his son and his grandson.

Life's never perfect, and humans surely aren't. We're not always dealt the best hand of cards. But he never let it get him down. He was rarely seen angry or upset. He had a good heart and never talked down on anyone. He believed in second and third chances.
He was silly, goofy, and fun. He was loving, and a big softie.

He was born October 10, 1961 to the late William Ray Gibbs & Sara Reynolds.  He is survived by his son Jordan Gibbs of Bowling Green, sister Sondra Chapman of Russellville, sister Sherry Boggess (David) of Russellville, brother Barry Gibbs of TN, brother Steve Gibbs of GA, grandson Jayce Gibbs of Bowling Green, Nieces; Courtney Koprowski, Breanna Gloyd, & Eliza Harper.  

Visitation will be on Friday August 14, 2026 in the chapel of Kirby Funeral Services Russellville from 11am to 1pm with Brother Barry Giibs & Brother Johnny Fuller officiating services at 1pm with burial to follow in Gordonsville Cemetery.
