Obituary

Edward Ray Pulley, 75 years old, of Logan County, Kentucky, passed away on August 21, 2024, after a two-year battle with cancer. Edward, known to family and friends by his nickname Lucean, was born on February 7, 1949, to Ulaylah Clide (Brown) Pulley and Robert Pulley in Logan County, KY. He was one of ten children.

Ed was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served from 1969-1971. Upon his return home from Vietnam, he married his wife of 54 years, Shelia Whitaker, on August 8, 1970. After his honourable discharge from the military, he spent a number of years driving a truck across the country. He loved to take in the majestic scenes on the road, and especially loved driving out west in the mountains of Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. He later worked at his family's car dealership in Bowling Green, KY restoring old cars until he retired.

Ed lived a simple life, he was a child of God, he loved his country and was a proud veteran. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. Most days you could find him in work clothes and his Vietnam vet hat. At home he enjoyed smoking barbecue, being out in his workshop where he would hand craft frontiersman ear flint-lock muzzle loaders, powder horns and knives. Or just enjoying watching old western, especially John Wayne or Clint Eastwood.

However, what he enjoyed and was most proud of was his family, his kids, grandkids and great grandkids which he loved to spoil. Ed had a lot of wisdom and advice that he passed on over the years. Some of which still resonates in his children today. For example, "Always stand up for yourself and others", "Never start a fight but you damn well better finish it" and the best mystery advice… "Stay out of the water until you learn to swim" …yeah we're still working to figure that one out.

Ed is survived by his wife Shelia and four children: son, Edward Pulley Jr (Crystal) of Auburn, KY and three daughters, Tammy Palmer (Michael) of Pennsylvania, Becky Noble (Ross) of Franklin, KY, Belinda Hayes (Daniel) of Bowling Green, KY, 13 grandkids, 7 great grandkids, 3 brothers, 1 sister and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mother Ulaylah Clyde (brown) Pulley, Father Robert Pulley, Stepdad Jesse Pulley, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Cremation has been chosen and the celebration of life will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Kirby Funeral Services.  The memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. and Brother Paul Flory will be officiating the service in the chapel of Kirby Funeral Services.  There will be no graveside services.
