Obituary

Elizabeth A. Mason “Muh”, age 97, peacefully departed this life on May 4, 2026. She was born on September 15, 1928, in Springfield, TN and lived a long, full life marked by love, generosity and devotion to her family and community.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to her husband, James Mason, welcoming eight children into the world. Her parents, husband, four siblings Willie Allen, Louis Sanders, Penny Jones and Lillie Flowers, children James Ernest Mason, Fannie Woodward, Annie Rose and Forest Mason preceded her in death.

A dedicated homemaker for many families, Elizabeth took great pride in caring for others. She also spent time working at Emerson Electric, demonstrating her strong work ethic and resilience. She was best known, however, for the warmth she brought into every home she touched – especially her own. Elizabeth loved cooking and had a special gift for making delicious meals out of very little. No one ever left her home hungry.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially watching her favorite game show – The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud with Steve Harvey. She also enjoyed the lottery from time to time, and when she won, she generously shared her blessings with those around her.

Elizabeth cherished her family above all. She adored spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren, affectionately calling them all “BabyCakes”. Her love extended across generations, leaving a legacy of kindness and care.

A faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for many years, Elizabeth served proudly on the Mother’s Board. Her faith was a guiding force to her life, and she remained a pillar in both her church and the broader community.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, daughters Gladys Milan, Gracie Woodard and Lillie Mason, son Clarence Mason, all of Russellville KY, daughter in law, Tammy Mason of Oneida KY, 21 grandchildren, 34 friends, and her protective dog Soxx, who will all deeply miss her.

Elizabeth “Muh” Mason will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend – a woman of strength, generosity and unwavering love. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
