Obituary

Glen Hatler, 86, of Russellville passed away at his residence on Wednesday June 18, 2025.  He was born in Fountain Run, Ky on March 19, 1939 to the late William Lester Hatler & Ocia Pardue Hatler Crawford also preceded in death by brother Oneal Hatler & sister Barbara Hatler Worel.  He is survived by his wife Linda Gooch Hatler of Russellville, daughter Marisa Hopkins (Mark) of Russellville, daughter Karin Foster of Bowling Green, sister Sue Strehlow of Arizona, sister-in-law Juanita Hatler of Glasgow, grandsons; Jacob Hopkins (Brianna) & Justin Hopkins (Kate), Great grandchildren; Alba, Lucy, Sage, Ruby, & Brooks Hopkins, and special thank you to caregivers Lorrie Remour & Ashley Elliot.  Glen attended Austin Tracy High School then began working for Houchens Industries in 1957 in Glasgow, KY.  Soon he transferred to Russellville as a Houchens Assistant Manager.  Later he became Store Manager then District Supervisor as he helped open 4 Houchens Stores in Logan County.  In Total he Supervised 15 stores as Supervisor.   In 2000 after 47 years Glen retired as Vice President of Houchens Industries.   During this time, he was involved in several small businesses, community service, and was instrumental in organizing the Country Ham Breakfast for many years to help fund Brother Joe Carrico's Toys for Tots.   After retiring from Houchens, he established another business, the Harvest, with Logan Chick.  Glen always enjoyed his time on the farm, in the Yard, traveling with local groups, time with his family – especially the little ones!  He was a member of the KY Colonels, founding member of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church & attended Red Oak Grove Methodist Church.  Visitation will be on Saturday June 21, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm in the chapel of Kirby Funeral Services Russellville and 11am to 2pm on Sunday in the Chapel of Kirby Funeral Services Russellville with Travis Bryan officiating services at 2pm with burial to follow in Red Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Brother Joe Carrico's Toys for Tots and Red Oak Grove Methodist Church.   Online register book can be found online at www.kirbyfuneralservices.com
