Obituary

William Carey Appling 80 of Russellville passed away December 22, 2024 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab.  He was the son of the late Edwin Boyce Appling & Aggie Appling.  He is also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Ann Knight Appling,  brother Ben Appling, brother Buck Appling, brother Bob Appling, sister Nannie Jane, & sister Jessie Mae.   He is survived by his forever best friend Ella Stinson of Russellville, son Barry Appling (Jacqueline) of Auburn, daughter Dana Stranger (Tracey) of Russellville, grandchildren: Chelsea Rolf, Cara Stranger McCoy, Braden  Stranger, Kristen Cummings, Kayla Duquel, Honesty "Punkin" Appling, great grandchildren Caroline, Asher, Elu, Rosalie, & Everly.  Carey loved to eat Cracker Barrel, was a member of the Logan County Cattlemen's Association, and graduated from Chandlers High School in 1962.   He attended the First General Baptist Church and was a Christian.   Visitation will be on Saturday December 28, 2024 from 10am to 1pm in the chapel of Kirby Funeral Services Russellville with funeral services at 2 pm with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Online register book can be found at kirbyfuneralservices.com.  Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.  In leiu of flowers donations can be made to Homer Cemetery Fund Alex Chesnut 1040 Plainview church road Russellville Ky 42276.
